Flagged Again? Here’s Why Your AI Content Isn’t Fooling Anyone

Written by MiShaun Taylor

Have you ever tried using one of those highly advertised AI writing tools or even tried asking ChatGPT to help you write a school assignment, content for a business or even some marketing content for your new site? You may have even thought, Not too shabby. Using AI might actually work. Woohoo. In fact, it may have even sounded fantastic on the surface, but if you put it through an AI detector like GPTZero or Turnitin, it probably got flagged as soon as you, your client, boss, or teacher conducted a scan. Annoying and embarrassing, right? It’s like getting your hand caught in a cookie jar and then realizing that your mom was right there watching the whole time.

Here’s what people don’t always realize:

AI content may sound good on the surface, but it feels different. Not in an obvious (pie in your face) way, more like … something’s just feels off. The wording is too neat. The rhythm is too smooth. You read it and think, Umm. Sounds okay, but would anyone actually say this? That’s what gets flagged.

Detection tools aren’t just looking for buzzwords. They’re checking how the sentences flow, how predictable the word choices are, even how your sentence lengths stack up. If it all reads like a well-oiled machine, guess what—it probably was written by one.

So if you’re writing stellar content and want to make it flow, here are some tips:

  1. Break up your content. Throw in short lines. Ask a question. Use a few fragments. Not everything needs to sound polished.
  2. Use your voice. Seriously. Say it out loud. Would you actually speak this way? If so, write it exactly the way you’d say it.
  3. Get specific. Avoid the generic stuff. No one talks like a motivational poster. Well, no one but Les Brown.
  4. Add weirdness. Real humans say random stuff. They use slang. They mess with rhythm. They let the ideas flow.
  5. Have someone real read it. Not another tool. A person.

At HumanRewriter.ai, that’s kind of our whole thing. You send us the AI-generated draft. We make it sound like you actually wrote it. One that feels human. Not robotic. Not overly fixed. Just real.
